City Place Mall plan aims for the sky (Silver Spring Gazette)
When Walt Petrie bought out his development partners two years ago to become the sole owner of City Place Mall in Silver Spring, he had a vision to revive the 27-year-old mall, which suffered from vacant or temporarily leased storefronts and dwindling shoppers.

The home with yellow vinyl siding and red shutters sits at 126 Kenwood Lane, a dead-end avenue off St. Louis Street in Collinsville. A green clover leaf with "Happy St. Patrick's Day" hangs on the front door. Through the back, looking over the marble patio and beyond the huge brick barbecue pit, children play during recess at nearby Jefferson Elementary School.
